The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has launched 62 new academic programs in order to realize its objective of expanding the university and catering to a wide range of professional interests and areas of speciality, all while keeping the demands of today’s global world in mind.

Two doctoral programs, 22 master’s programs, two master’s of business administration programs, three master’s of science programs, five master’s of arts (MA) programs, five master’s of education programs, 20 undergraduate programs, two diploma programs, and one certificate program are among the new offerings.

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, UEW, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, stated this at the opening session of the UEW’s 26th Congregation, which was held at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba.

“Newer programmes that will be rolled out in the coming year include a Doctor of Philosophy programme to be run by the Department of Political Science Education under the Faculty of Social Sciences Education and an MA/MPhil programmes in African Studies,” he said.

Prof. Ofori-Birikorang stated that inclusive education was one of UEW’s key objectives, and that management had built a Braille Library to assist students with disabilities.

Management has procured new sets of modern furniture for all of the new lecture theatres, according to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, in order to establish the essential conducive environment for teaching and learning.

“The fixing of furniture and allocation of offices at the Student Centre has been done. In the coming days, the centre will come up live with full-scale student-centred activities.”
