The head of state cancelled a virtual Privy Council meeting the day before she passed away at the age of 96 because her doctors told her to take it easy.

The late monarch’s cause of death was certified by Dr. Douglas Glass, who had the title Apothecary to the Queen and served as Charles’ doctor in 2019 during his official visit to Germany.

Old age is admissible if the physician who certified the patient’s death had provided long-term care, was unaware of any illness or injury that may have led to the patient’s demise, and had noticed a steady deterioration in the patient’s overall health and functional state.

During her latter years, the Queen had intermittent mobility issues and frequently used a walking stick in public.
