Los Blancos extended their winning streak against the Blaugrana to four games, while the Dutchman suffered his third consecutive defeat against his opponents.

After edging off Barcelona in a dramatic injury-time conclusion in La Liga at Camp Nou on Sunday, Real Madrid is on their best run in El Clasico in 56 years.

Los Blancos defeated the Blaugrana owing to David Alaba’s first goal for the club, as well as a late finish from Lucas Vazquez before Sergio Aguero scored a 97th-minute consolation goal.

The result returned Carlo Ancelotti’s side to the top of La Liga and created records for both clubs on both sides of the divide.

With this result, the visitors have now won four consecutive games in their illustrious rivalry with Barcelona, extending their winning streak into the first half of 2020.

In March of that year, second-half goals from Vinicius Jr and Mariano Diaz gave Los Blancos a late victory at home in La Liga, following a 0-0 draw earlier in the season.

During the 2020-21 season, Madrid won 3-1 away from home before winning 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu to make it three wins in a row – and with Sunday’s 2-1 win, they have now extended their winning streak to four games.
