After the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were indefinitely closed, and he is no longer permitted to post on those platforms.

Donald Trump’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram, however, will be restored in the upcoming weeks, according to Facebook parent company Meta Platforms.

The company announced that it would lift the suspension of the ex president’s as he launches a new campaign for the presidency, in spite of criticism from Democrats and advocacy groups.

Facebook claimed the restriction was indefinite at the time. After hearing from its outside board, the company suspended Trump for two years and announced that it would make a decision on whether to reinstate him this month.
