The Controller and Accountant General has issued a notice to public employees that if they do not register for their Ghana Cards by December 1, they will not be paid.

According to the Controller, Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, all public sector employees are required to obtain a Ghana Card to solidify databases and facilitate biometric and unique identification of all government employees.

Mr. Bosompem, in a memo  to all government worker, said the move is “part of the Government of Ghana’s efforts to deliver speedy, secure, and verified payroll service to government employees and pensioners while decreasing the risk of undeserving payment or claims”

“All current and prospective government employees must ensure that they are registered with the NIA and have got their identity numbers as a result of this announcement.”
