With a recent yearly pay cost of almost £228 million, the Red Devils had the highest in the Premier League.

Ronaldo was making an astounding £480,000 per week before moving to Al-Nassr, while goalkeeper David de Gea continues to earn £375k per week.

The Mail claims that, in order to prevent a culture of envy in the locker room, chief executive Richard Arnold, director of football John Murtough, and manager Erik ten Hag are planning to implement a squad-wide pay cap.

De Gea, whose current contract expires this summer, will thus be presented with a fresh offer ranging from £180,000 to £200,000 a week.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who has played at Old Trafford since 2011, said last week that he thinks negotiations with the team will go well, but this fresh wage cut might make him less optimistic.

Bruno Fernandes reportedly earns within the wage range after inking a new five-year contract in April.

Harry Maguire, Casemiro, and Raphael Varane are thought to have comparable salaries.

Additionally, the Man Utd players’ contracts contain wage penalties for missing out on the Champions League.

According to reports, Luke Shaw, whose contract expires in 2024, will receive a pay package in the same ballpark.

But it will be impossible to restrain Marcus Rashford because of this self-imposed limit.

In the summer, it was said that Paris Saint-Germain was prepared to offer the England international a stunning £850,000 per week to sign him to a contract with the club.

That would increase his present weekly salary of £200k by more than four times.

Early in the current season, United did activate an extension in his contract to keep him around until the conclusion of the 2023–24 season.

However, given his recent performance, they will still be eager to sign him to a long-term contract.

In 24 games for Ten Hag’s team this season, Rashford has already scored 13 goals and provided six assists.
